2026 Washoe Picnic
3415 Hot Springs Road, Markleeville, CA
Camping will be available on Friday and Saturday night. Events and activities will be scheduled throughout the day on Saturday, including swimming later in the evening. Keep an eye out for the agenda, which will be shared at a later date.

Please bring dishes to share based on your community. Drinks, meat, bread, and desserts will be provided for everyone.

Camping Info
We have a variety of camping options available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that 3 campsites are specially reserved for Elders.
- 25 additional sites available
- 8 campsites available at the main campground
- Unlimited open camping around the day use area
Note: Maximum RV length is 27 feet for motorhomes/campers, and 24 feet for trailers.
Volunteers Needed!
We're looking for 20-30 volunteers to help make this year's community picnic a fun, smooth, and culturally rich gathering for everyone. All experience levels are welcome! Your help strengthens community ties and supports a day of connection, culture, and fun.
Schedule of Events
- Saturday - Starting at 8:00 AM
- Picnic begins at 10:00 AM
- Lunch served at 11:30 AM
Volunteer Roles
- Setup crew (tables, canopies, signage)
- Welcome & check-in support
- Lunch helpers (serving, organizing, clean-up)
- Game/activity helpers
- Cultural activity support (crafts, storytelling areas, etc.)
Volunteer Time Slots
- 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM (setup & prep)
- 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM (lunch & activities)
- 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM (games & community stations)
- 5:00 PM - close (swim support & breakdown)

Park Rules & Guidelines
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit at Grover Hot Springs State Park, please remember the following guidelines during the picnic and camping weekend.
- Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Generators may only be operated between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
- Bear Safety: Store all scented items DAY AND NIGHT! Bears commonly explore the campground. Use the provided metal bear-resistant lockers for all food, beverages, ice chests, and toiletries.
- Pets: Dogs must be on a leash AT ALL TIMES (no longer than 6 feet) and cannot be left unattended. Please clean up after your dogs!
- Vehicles: The speed limit is 15 MPH on all park roads. All 4 tires must be on the paved parking pad to reduce resource damage.

2026 Washoe Picnic FAQ
When and where is the picnic?
The picnic is scheduled for August 8th, 2026, from 08:00 AM to 06:00 PM[cite: 1]. It will be held at Grovers Hot Springs, located at 3415 Hot Springs Road, Markleeville, CA[cite: 1].
What kind of food should I bring?

Are there size restrictions for RVs and trailers?
Yes. The maximum length for motorhomes, vans, and campers is 27 feet[cite: 1]. For trailers, the maximum length is 24 feet, which is measured from the rear bumper of the towing truck to the rear bumper of the trailer[cite: 1].
Can I bring my dog to the campground?
Yes, dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times[cite: 1]. They cannot be left unattended at any time, and owners are required to clean up after their pets[cite: 1].
What are the park rules regarding bears and food storage?
Bears commonly explore the campground looking for food, so all scented items must be safely stored DAY AND NIGHT[cite: 1].
All food, beverages (including unopened cans and bottles), ice chests, and toiletries must be stored in the provided metal bear-resistant lockers unless they are actively being consumed or prepared[cite: 1].
