Empowering Our Youth, Strengthening Our Community 💚

Our Commitment to a Healthy Future ✨

At Woodfords Community Council, we believe in a vibrant, safe, and healthy future for all. Our prevention activities are designed to empower our community members, especially our incredible youth, to lead positive, fulfilling lives. By focusing on skill-building, teamwork, and community connection, we're creating a powerful foundation for success.

Youth-Led Initiatives: The Heart of Our Work ❤️‍🔥

Our youth aren't just participants—they are leaders! 🤩 The Hungalelti Youth Council, along with our Youth Workers and College Interns, are the driving force behind many of our most successful events. They help plan, organize, and lead activities, bringing a fresh and powerful perspective to our prevention efforts. Their dedication and hard work make every event special.

Hoops for Health: The Hungalelti Basketball Program 🏀

Our basketball clinics and tournaments are a huge hit! They're more than just games—they're a way to promote healthy lifestyles and foster a strong community. Players learn fundamentals, skill development, and teamwork, all in a safe and supportive environment. Our coaches and volunteers focus on player development over winning, ensuring every child feels valued and has fun.

A Look at Our Recent Clinics and Tournaments:

  • 3-on-3 Galis Tournament: Our youth volunteers kept score, cleaned up, cooked, and served healthy meals. Over 96 people attended this successful, free, and sober event! 🎉
  • Hungalelti Spring Jam: With waived registration fees, this youth tournament brought together multiple teams for a weekend of healthy competition and sportsmanship. It’s all about having fun and learning to be great teammates.
  • Skills Development & Leagues: We offer weekly basketball practices focusing on drills, stretching, and teamwork. With an average of 15-20 students attending each practice, our program is building confidence and a love for the game in every participant.

A huge shoutout to all the coaches, referees, and family members who make these events possible! Your support and positive encouragement are what truly make our community shine. ⭐
